Personal Training and Me...

A little about me and my back ground in Personal Training/Coaching

Hey I’m Kelly

I’m 33, live in Pudsey and I am a Mum of two and of course wife to Tom of 10 years.

I first qualified as a PT back in 2013 with Premier International Training, where I gained my level 2 fitness instructor and my Level 3 Personal Trainer, along with a few extras like kettlebells, first aid and pre/postnatal.

I then went on to work self-employed at a local gym for a few months before starting at a new women’s only gym in Bradford for just over a year.

I then moved to another Ladies gym in the centre of Pudsey, which I loved and met some really amazing women.

I then had my first baby, Jack who is now 6, and then shortly after had Ella who is now 4. I came away from the fitness industry to focused on bringing my babies up.

I took a part time job locally, when jack was 9 months and have been there ever since.

About two years ago I decided to re enter the world of Personal Training again, but I knew I didn’t want to go back to a commercial gym it just wasn’t me and it took the love of helping women with their fitness and goals away. I knew deep down I really wanted to be my own boss, work with people in their homes or online.

I then become aware of Apex gym and met Terry and Vanessa, I had PT sessions with Vanessa and absolutely loved the gym and loved the vibe. Both from the gym it’s self and Terry and Vanessa, this was different it wasn’t your commercial gym with everyone competing with each other, this was a place where people rooted for one another and cheered you on.

I never thought I would step back into a gym again, I’d really fallen out of love With it all, I even qualified as a life coach to start a whole knew career, but quickly realised that life coaching and personal training can really be interlinked, and that’s when I came into more of a coaching side of things, a more holistic approach to people’s lives not just the odd workout, but a more balanced approach with body and mind.

I’m not going to lie, Personal training is a hard job to get going in, its a slow burner and I picked the worse year to step into it really, but after a few years of working on it, I’m now at a really good place and love every single client I work with, my own fitness and healthy habits have really improved too, I’ve worked with my own coaches to get me into a good routine and look after my own health too. Both mentally and physically.

Being a mum of two, working part time at another job and balancing Personal training clients too has been an adjustment to say the least, but I’m enjoying working with these amazing women (& Guys), it’s helped me remember why I did this in the first place all those years ago.

One thing I always have on the go behind the scenes is a course, a new qualification. I’m a forever student and that’s one thing I love about coaching, I’m always learning always growing, both in my knowledge of Health and Fitness but also in my own self development.

Over the last 11 years I have completed a wide range of qualifications and I thought it may be interesting to share them, especially if you are someone thinking of becoming a PT as well:

My goals over the next few years are simply to help as many women improve their health and fitness as I can, to get people working out again and enjoying it.

So there you go a little insight into my training back ground and where I started from.

Don’t forget if you have any questions feel free to ask, no matter how small.

Kelly xx
